Planning a birthday party

  1. Realize your dear sweetiepeas's birthday is on the horizon
  2. Panic.
  3. Stop panicking
  4. Start planning
  5. Repeatedly ask your hubby questions like, "What theme should we do?" or, "Should I make a whole cake or just cupcakes?"
  6. Receive, "Whatever you want to do" as an answer to most everything.
  7. Make a list of people to invite .
  8. Pose the question, "Would 40 people singing happy birthday to a mommy clinging one year old be a bad idea?"
  9. Revise list of people to invite.
  10. Decide there is not enough time to order the snazzy invitations like you did for your first child.
  11. Wonder if there's really enough time to send invitations at all!
  12. Panic. Again.
  13. Figure out a way to have cool invites and give your guests time to mull over their answer(ok not much time, but at least you can stop panicking).
  14. Pick a theme based on what makes your sweetiepeas happy.*
  15. Decide to do both a cake and cupcakes (gulp).
  16. Go to the party store to pick up a few items so you feel you're really getting somewhere with this planning thing.
  17. Have your 3 year old refer to the store you're at as the potty store the whole time you're there.
  18. Realize your brilliant theme doesn't really exist.
  19. Somehow pull it together anyway (fingers crossed).
  20. Feel you're actually on top of it, and breathe a sigh of relief.

*I wouldn't want to spoil any sort of surprise (plus of course it leaves me open to change it on a whim w/o anyone knowing - ha!)

I can't wait! If I am invited, that is...? I can't believe baby-girl is nearly one!
