What a wonderful weekend

I love long weekends, I love lazy weekends; this past weekend was both.
For Independence day we took Meg and Hannah (our two middle dogs) to the dog park by our house. All of our dogs love it there. They get to run around leashless and meet new friends, both canine and human.
I wish I would have brought the camera, Meggie learned how to swim. We coaxed her into the pond with a game of fetch (she just can't abandon a ball). I don't think I've ever laughed so hard at her. It took a long time for her to muster up the courage, but once she got going she quickly got the hang of it. It ate Hannah up though, she remained too chicken to venture too far into the water and for once in her life didn't win the title of master fetcher.
I was a bit leary of letting them get so wet since we still had the car ride home to contend with, but when all was said and done I was more concerned about me sitting in the car than them. -Apparently I attracted all the dogs with the muddyest paws.-
After coming home to rinse off we called a restaurant that we've been patiently waiting to open. Benny's has been a Denver staple for twenty-some years, and for some miraculous reason they decided to open a second restaurant about 2 miles away from our house! Just our luck July 4th was their first day in business. We rushed down there and had a wonderful meal (I can't wait to go back).
In the evening (after much needed naps, myself included) we headed for the Rapids game at Invesco Field. To our surprise they won 2-1! Afterward we saw the best firework show in Denver (so they say). It was great (probably even the best), I was so proud of Bug and Sweetiepeas for making it the whole night without too much of a melt down on either of their parts. We didn't get home until after 11:30.
