Happy Birthday Mopsy

Well scratch that (sort of). Mopsy's birthday is in June.
To preface I should say that Hubby Mikey and I aren't the most savvy shoppers when it comes to other people's birthdays. We usually find ourselves on the way to the person-in-question's celebration running into some large chain store (usually Target) to pick up a gift certificate and a nice card.
So when I read Mopsy's April 14th blog, I knew I was staring in the face of a golden opportunity (even if her birthday isn't for another 2 months). Sure, they may say the venue sold out in minutes, but of course, where there's a will there's a way. And my way included the magic of eBay. One of the greatest features of eBay is knowing that nothing is ever truly sold out.
Not much appeals to me more than a good deal and that's precisely what I got. Including the 2 day Fedex shipping from Texas I paid less than face value for 2 not too shabbily located seats.

If you read the comments to her blog, you'll know that I shamelessly invited myself along as her date -hey it's U2! They are such an iconic band, their fans are an amazing cross-section of people young and old. While at the concert (last night) Mopsy and I saw four different radio stations represented, teenagers, a man in his 70's, and a family of four -now how many times have you heard of a couple of teenagers going to a concert with their parents?!

It was amazing. When Hubby Mikey asked how it was, the comment that seemed to get the biggest "Wow it was that good?" was when I told him I was moved to tears.
Bono and U2 as a whole have been widely known for their activist participation in charities and causes world wide - during the concert there was one song and message that really struck a chord with me. When they played "Where the Streets Have No Name" their lighting effect scrolled flags from country after country as Bono sung and spoke of equality for every human. No more slavery, an end to hunger, equal no matter what. Period.

The city's a flood, and our love turns to rust.
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust.
I'll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name.

I highly recommend this concert to -well anyone. It was more beautiful than I've ever seen rock and roll to be. It was full of energy and emotion. It was amazing.

I hope Mopsy had a good time, I know more so now than before that I should be thanking her for not only the idea of buying the tickets, but letting me snag one of them too.
