10 Things I love about Mikey

  1. The way he get so focused on a project he becomes oblivious to everything around him.
  2. His unexplainable knowledge of sports trivia.
  3. His sensitive nature and softie-ness.
  4. His love of most everything edible and willingness to eat anything I make.
  5. His knowledge of computers and the excitement he gets when he explains it to me.
  6. His general nerd-ness (including, but not limited to video games, comic books, & Linux stuff).
  7. The way he pats himself on the back for saying something quick and witty.
  8. His infectious laughter (especially when in a movie theatre).
  9. His unfailing love and devotion to his friends and family.
  10. How excited he gets for his birthday (which is today!)
I love you sweetie!
I hope your birthday turns out to be as wonderful as you'd like and as wonderful as you deserve. You're the best friend I could ever wish or hope for.

"Water Water All Over the Place" - or "Please Make it Stop"

Drip. Drip. Drip.
Our basement has a puddle.
Dribble. Dribble. Dribble.
The toilet starts to gurgle.
Drop. Drop. Drop.
The hot water heater fizzles.
Plop. Plop. Plop.
The Bathroom is now flooded.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
A new water heater all hooked up.
Plunge. Plunge. Plunge.
Our toilet is now unclogged.

Do all dogs go to heaven?

The other night as we drove home from karate we passed by a church who's sign read "Will dogs be with us in heaven?" It seemed to be appropriate for what's been on my mind recently.

I've mentioned that Mikey and I are softies when it comes to animals. - This could be apparent by our five animals, or by my recent bout of kitty fever.

I especially am sucked into the wag of a tail, the nudge of a wet nose, and of course those big sad eyes. I want to save all the dogs who have been abandoned by their owners because they "got their yard landscaped and didn't want it to get messed up" (an actual reason I saw for a dog named Andy here) or the kitties who are found in boxes in alleyways.

I do believe that "All Dogs Go to Heaven." Animals have such pure and welcoming hearts and I want to save them all. I know, not possible but last week I decided I would take initiative in helping animals (and not by adding another mouth to our already crowded home).

I'm going to start volunteering at one of our local animal shelters. The Humane Society of Boulder sounds like the perfect place for me to involve myself with our needy friends. Last Wednesday I went to a informational volunteer meeting, and now I'm really looking forward to starting there on a regular basis.

There will definitely be updates as I'm planning on starting soon!
