Good morning and welcome to Friday

As I write this, I'm still not quite awake. Not only am I not a morning person, I haven't been sleeping particularly well. Most nights recently have consisted of constant flipping from one side to the other. I also have the most bizarre dreams, so when I wake up (generally for reasons of flipping) I'm thinking, "what the heck?" As I'm trying to figure out why I would dream we have Sweetiepeas sleep on a balcony on a couch surrounded by piles of junk, I only manage to prolong my sleeplessness. Then their are the nightly boxing matches between my husband and I. His punches come in the way of obnoxiously loud snores and mine, well mine are a bit more like an actual boxing match. - Sorry sweetie - though in my defense he tends to sleep right through my "love taps" and wouldn't know they exist except that I tell him about it the next morning. "Oh, so that's why my arm hurts" he says, then he pouts.
Well this morning before I had the chance to open my eyes (after another long figity night), I heard, "Mommy I want something to eat, and something to drink, I'm hungry and I'm thirsty too. I love you Mommy, Beeza loves you too (his bear), and you love me, and you love Beeza too. May I have something to eat and something to drink?" I woke up enough to say that I love him tons and figured out that he wanted soy milk and oatmeal for breakfast (to which Beeza agreed).
The making of breakfast was a blur, I know his tummy is now full so apparently I didn't forget how to make instant oatmeal (thank goodness - I'd really be in trouble there). Now that I have my tea in hand I'm hoping for the caffeine to wake me up so I can tackle the rest of the morning. I know it's cliche, but Thank Goodness It's Friday!

The perfect moment

Prompted by a craving of my husband's, Bug and I baked cookies today. I admit I have a weakness for sweets, but I just have to wonder is there anything more wonderful than fresh baked cookies?
Bug and I were sitting in front of the oven with plates of gooey chocolate chip cookies and cold glasses of milk. Sweetiepeas was swinging away happily, and every so often Bug would get up to help her master her new sippy cup (of course this was in between mouthfuls of the chocolatey goodness). I figured, "This is it. Perfect." It has to be one of the best moments I've had with my kids to date.
Sure, when it was over there was flour on the floor to clean up, and sure he had chocolate on his face, hands... even his legs, but it was well worth it. I only wish (within the realm of eating healthy) I could come up with a reason to add daily doses of chewy cookies. --I may just decide to eat all of our meals oven-side and make sure they're messy.

Bring on the love?

Dear February,
Understandably, being your first day on the job, you have a lot on your to do list. I hate to start things off by complaining, but it would be appreciated if you would fix a few things your predecessor fell short on. My family and I wish to stay well for the whole of your term, to actually sell the house in Atlanta like the contract says, and to have the time to finish our painting project. We enjoy our time with you. Your company brings us snowy days, a furry weather predictor, chocolate hearts and president's birthdays. You are the month of black history. The month of love. A month, despite of your length, with so much in store. Ordinarily, I wouldn't need to ask for more, but you're on the tail of a month filled with germs, missed weekends -- frankly time that wasn't used to its fullest. We'd like to help you realize your fullest potential, to make you a grand month of 2005. Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to having you in our lives for the next 27 days. May they be happy and eventful!
