Good Morning Birds

Good morning birds that go "Tweet tweet SHRIEK!"
The day has broke, the sun shines bright, I stretch and hear my joints go "creak."
My pillow though soft and plump has played its part quite well.
I must get up, get dressed and blog (I hope I remember how to spell.)
As I wipe the sleep out from my eyes, I think of what to write.
I hope I can make my day sound great, without any words of slight.
Yesterday, I write down, we did a lot of things
we went to lunch, to class and oh! HM saw 9 innings.
We were tired, it was hot, a nice warm summer day
(though it's still spring, it sure feels close and I think that's OK).
I finish up, write something witty, say so long for now!
Then I might add, I'll write more (I give my solemn vow!)
I set off to start again, a new day I move toward
My job I love, my kids so sweet, it is the best reward.

Planning a birthday party

  1. Realize your dear sweetiepeas's birthday is on the horizon
  2. Panic.
  3. Stop panicking
  4. Start planning
  5. Repeatedly ask your hubby questions like, "What theme should we do?" or, "Should I make a whole cake or just cupcakes?"
  6. Receive, "Whatever you want to do" as an answer to most everything.
  7. Make a list of people to invite .
  8. Pose the question, "Would 40 people singing happy birthday to a mommy clinging one year old be a bad idea?"
  9. Revise list of people to invite.
  10. Decide there is not enough time to order the snazzy invitations like you did for your first child.
  11. Wonder if there's really enough time to send invitations at all!
  12. Panic. Again.
  13. Figure out a way to have cool invites and give your guests time to mull over their answer(ok not much time, but at least you can stop panicking).
  14. Pick a theme based on what makes your sweetiepeas happy.*
  15. Decide to do both a cake and cupcakes (gulp).
  16. Go to the party store to pick up a few items so you feel you're really getting somewhere with this planning thing.
  17. Have your 3 year old refer to the store you're at as the potty store the whole time you're there.
  18. Realize your brilliant theme doesn't really exist.
  19. Somehow pull it together anyway (fingers crossed).
  20. Feel you're actually on top of it, and breathe a sigh of relief.

*I wouldn't want to spoil any sort of surprise (plus of course it leaves me open to change it on a whim w/o anyone knowing - ha!)

Our Saturday

Yesterday our family of 4 had quite the busy day. We started the day off by driving down to Colorado Springs. We have recently met some super nice people who live down there so we went down to attend their daughter's 5th birthday party. It was a blast :) Yummy food, a princess pinata, bright pink frosting, how could you go wrong?! I even caught Hubby Mikey running (he was playing football with some of the older boy types -dads... whatever). Afterwards we stopped by the outlet stores in Castle Rock for a quick spending spree, buying up summer clothes for the tots. Then, last night we went to a soccer game. Bug really enjoyed the atmosphere. He became quite the pro at shelling peanuts and stomping his feet when prompted by the announcer. He even got into the mode of cheering, swept up by the encouraging shouts of the boys sitting behind us, "Go Rabbits GO!" Ethan yelled as enthusiastic as anyone in the stands, no matter how many times HM and I reminded him we were actually watching the Rapids. They won by the way, 2-1 and that's about how many we Rapids fans were out numbered by Chivas USA supporters.
